Teams & Organizations

Organizations, teams, roles, and member invitations

Everyone in Closedloop belongs to an organization. Within an organization, teams group people and the repositories and projects they work on.

Organizations

An organization is the top-level account boundary. All projects, artifacts, and integrations are scoped to it. When you sign up you create or join an organization; every user belongs to exactly one.

Inviting members

Organization admins can invite teammates:

  1. In the web app, open the organization's member settings.
  2. Invite a teammate by email.
  3. When they accept, they join your existing organization as a member — accepting an invite adds them to your org rather than creating a new one.

Invitations can be sent over the API. Only an org admin or owner can invite, and the target organization is always derived from the authenticated caller's session — never from the request body — so you can only invite into an org you administer.

Teams and roles

Teams let you scope work and membership within an organization. A team member holds one of three roles:

RoleCapabilities
OWNERFull control of the team, including membership and settings.
ADMINManage the team's members and repositories.
MEMBERParticipate in the team's work.

Manage team membership from the web app: open the team's settings, add a teammate, and pick their role. You can update a member's role or remove them there as well. Team management is a session-authenticated action, so unlike the document and loop APIs it is not exposed to sk_live_* API keys. Teams can also be assigned repositories and projects, so the right people see the right work.
